DSL Setup for Windows 2000 via DHCP

Please note that this is the setup for a workstation but not recommended for file servers. Be sure that you have installed a Network Interface Card (NIC) and it's working properly.

  • Click on the "Start" button.
  • Click on "Settings".
  • Click on "Network and Dial-up Connection".
  • Click once on the "Local Area Connection" icon to highlight it.
  • Click on the "File" menu and select "Properties". You will see the following screen:

  • Verify that your Network Interface Card is listed under "Connect using".
  • Double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP".

Configure TCP/IP

  • Click on "Obtain an IP address automatically".
  • Click on "Obtain DNS server address automaticall".
  • Click "OK" on all screens until you are back to your Desktop.

You are now ready to use your DSL via DHCP!
